REPVBLIC Interview

Artist’s name: REPVBLIC
EP name: LowDog
Based in: London, UK

1. When you first started making music, did you feel that it was for you or you had doubts?

Nah, of course at first it was all just a “hobby” type of thing. My main mates in Uni were rapping, so, you know, it affected me but then bare people started telling me that I should try and record, so that’s the way it all went from there, you feel me.

2. What is your approach to the creative process? How do you get inspired?

The muse comes and goes, you get me. Sometimes I can come up with a full tune in 15, sometimes I be sitting at one rhyme for 15 minutes. In terms of inspiring… umm.. life and people’s decisions, that’s what makes me come up with my thoughts which then become lyrics.

3. Recently you had a performance in London, can you tell what were your feelings about returning on the stage?

Oh yes, thank you for mentioning that. Yeah, it was proper nice to perform again. My last time on stage was 2017 or 2018, I can’t remember, but anyway… time ago, so to come back, provide and feel the energy was major refreshing.

4. What has changed since your last time performing?

I just don’t feel any pressure anymore when I have to perform. I am fully confident in my material and I know how to present it, so the last time was pure enjoyment, you get me.

5. We know that often when artists become popular, famous, their behavior changes. Do you think it might affect you in the same way?

(Laughs) Oh, I have a long way in front of me. Nah, I am always going to stay who I am naturally and always have genuine love for my closest ones.

6. If we speak about production, do you prefer working with new people or you only work with the same team?

For now, I have got 3 producers that I can rely on and want to keep working with. My inbox is open for everyone, so just send me your stuff and if I like it, we are definitely going to work.

7. I see that you are not really into social media. Why do you choose to be this way when everyone gets clout so quickly these days because of Instagram, TikTok etc.?

Ahhh please, I am a grown man, I ain’t about public stunts or showing off my clothes. The best life is a private life trust me.

8. How has the pandemic and lockdown changed your perspective of the world?

During the first stage of lockdown, when all the sports events were cancelled, many people lost their heads and had no clue what to do with their free time. I couldn’t believe that so many men are doing nothing with their lives. That’s scary, you know.

9. Many musicians after some time in the industry create studio at home. Do you prefer a home studio or a professional one?

I surely want to have my own studio one day but not in my house, I might get lazy, you get me.

10. What are your biggest music goals for 2022?

You better believe that it is going to be my year. I got so much material I am currently working on and it is mad versatile. I am thinking about my first videos as well, so yeah, I dream big of 2022.
